Encrusting

A coating technique which adds more weight to the finished product than film coating and significantly less weight than pelleting.

Encrusted seed has a small quantity of material added to it to minimally change the shape of the raw seed to enable accurate mechanical seed metering in greenhouse and field applications.

Generally, the increase in seed weight is 150 to 350% (.015:1 to .035:1 ratio).
