For our purposes, seed enhancements are those "post cleaning and mechanical grading" methods that improve germination or seedling growth or facilitate the planting of seeds and the delivery of other materials required at time of sowing.

Seed enhancements include two major categories:

• the manipulation of the physiological status of the seeds by hydration, and
• the application of other agents or materials for coating purposes.
